In the summers of 2014 and 2015, we partnered with some of the most active artist run centres and art galleries in Toronto to present contemporary artists and their work in the small village of Warkworth in Northumberland Hills, Ontario. For artists, these festivals were a great opportunity to meet each other while mounting their work in a new context. For audiences, we were able to present contemporary art in a setting that was thought provoking yet accessible for them. At times challenging, other times visually stunning, and always interesting and unusual.
We arranged buses to take Torontonians to the village for those who didn't know where Warkworth was (almost everyone) and couldn't get there on their own. We called these The Party Buses, as tickets included free drinks and snacks so everyone could come up together, enjoy themselves, socialize and get home safe.
